Capercaillie ist eine schottische Folk-Band, die in den 1980er Jahren von Donald Shaw gegründet wurde und mit Karen Matheson als Frontfrau bekannt ist. Die Gruppe stammt aus Argyll, einer Region im Westen Schottlands, und ist nach dem Auerhuhn (Tetrao urogallus) benannt, einem Vogel, der sich auf den Britischen Inseln nur in Schottland befindet. Capercaillie ist bekannt für seine traditionelle schottische Musik, die mit modernen und experimentellen Einflüssen neu interpretiert wird. Ihr charakteristischer Sound kombiniert traditionelle Melodien, orchestrale Arrangements und Mathesons kraftvolle Stimme.
