Cornershop è una band indie rock britannica formatasi a Leicester nel 1991 da Tjinder Singh (cantante, compositore e chitarrista), nato a Wolverhampton, suo fratello Avtar Singh (basso e voce), David Chambers (batteria) e Ben Ayres (chitarra, tastiere e tamboura). I primi tre erano stati membri della band General Havoc, con sede a Preston, che aveva pubblicato un singolo nel 1991. Il nome del gruppo deriva da uno stereotipo riferito agli asiatici britannici che spesso possiedono negozi di alimentari all'angolo della strada. La loro musica è una fusione di musica indiana, Britpop e musica elettronica dance. Cornershop ha raggiunto il successo internazionale con il singolo "Brimful of Asha" del 1997, un brano che fonde elementi indiani tradizionali con sonorità pop britanniche.
