Sea Wolf ist das musikalische Projekt von Alex Brown Church, einem Indie-Rock-Sänger-Songwriter aus Los Angeles, Kalifornien. Nach dem Besuch der Filmhochschule NYU gründete Church 1998 die Gruppe Irving. Viele der Songs, die er in dieser Zeit schrieb, passten nicht zum Stil der Gruppe, also begann er unter dem Namen Sea Wolf mit einem sich ständig verändernden Ensemble von Begleitmusikern aufzutreten, spielte lokal in Los Angeles und nahm Demos in Seattle mit dem Produzenten Phil Ek (Band of Horses, The Shins, Fleet Foxes) auf. 2007 unterschrieb er bei Dangerbird Records und veröffentlichte die EP *Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low* sowie das Album *Leaves In The River*, das Platz 24 der Billboard Heatseekers-Charts erreichte. Zu den bekanntesten Songs von Sea Wolf gehören *You're a Wolf*, *The Violet Hour* und *Broken City*.
