Death è stata una band di death metal americana, originariamente chiamata Mantas, attiva dal 1983 al 1999. Fondata da Chuck Schuldiner, unico membro costante dall'inizio alla fine, la band è considerata una delle pionieri del genere. Schuldiner, chitarrista e cantante, ha plasmato l'evoluzione musicale di Death, passando da sonorità più thrash metal ai primi album a un death metal progressivo e tecnicamente complesso negli anni '90.
