Stan Ridgway, bekannt einfach als Stan, ist ein amerikanischer Singer-Songwriter und Multiinstrumentalist, geboren 1950. Er wurde durch seine Tätigkeit als Frontmann der kalifornischen New-Wave-Band Wall of Voodoo (aktiv von 1978 bis 1984) bekannt. Nach seiner Zeit bei den Wall of Voodoo startete Ridgway eine erfolgreiche Solokarriere mit Alben und Kollaborationen mit verschiedenen Künstlern. Zu seinen bekanntesten Kooperationen gehören die mit seiner Frau Pietra Wexstun, mit der er drei Alben produzierte, und der legendäre Schlagzeuger der Police, Stewart Copeland, mit dem er die Filmmusik zu Rusty il Selvaggio (1983) schrieb. Ridgway gründete außerdem zusammen mit seiner Frau das Kunstprojekt Drywall. Sein Musikstil ist von verschiedenen Einflüssen geprägt, darunter Rock, New Wave, Folk und Blues. Zu seinen bekanntesten Songs gehören "The Message", "Mexican Radio" (mit den Wall of Voodoo), "Camouflage" und "Rusty il Selvaggio".
