Miriam Makeba, conosciuta come "Mama Africa", è stata una cantante e attivista sudafricana nata nel 1932 a Johannesburg. Considerata un'icona della musica africana, ha portato la sua voce potente e melodie tradizionali internazionali, mescolando jazz, soul e musica folk. La sua carriera musicale è iniziata negli anni '50 con il gruppo "The Skylarks".
