Mike Ness è un musicista statunitense nato Michael James Ness, noto per essere il frontman e principale songwriter della band punk rock Social Distortion. Fondata nel 1979 a Fullerton, in California, la band ha raggiunto una grande popolarità negli anni '80 e '90 con un sound caratterizzato da melodie accattivanti, testi introspettivi e influenze country e rockabilly. Ness è considerato uno dei pionieri del punk rock californiano e il suo stile vocale rauco e appassionato ha contribuito a definire l'estetica della scena musicale di quel periodo. Oltre alla sua attività con i Social Distortion, Ness ha collaborato con altri artisti come Johnny Cash e The Blasters. Tra le canzoni più rappresentative dei Social Distortion figurano "Ball and Chain", "Story of My Life" e "Mommy's Little Monster". L'album "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" (1988) è considerato un classico del genere punk rock.
