James Eugene "Jim" Carrey (geboren am 17. Januar 1962) ist ein kanadisch-amerikanischer Schauspieler und Komiker. Er begann seine Karriere als Stand-up-Comedian im Jahr 1979, trat im Yuk Yuk's in Toronto unter der Leitung von Leatrice Spevack auf. Nach seinem Durchbruch 1981 arbeitete er im The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, wo ihn der Komiker Rodney Dangerfield entdeckte und ihm die Eröffnung seiner Tourneen anbot.
