Modern English ist eine britische Musikgruppe, die 1979 in Colchester, Essex, gegründet wurde. Die Gründungsmitglieder waren Robbie Grey (Gesang), Gary McDowell (Gitarre, Gesang) und Michael Conroy (Bass, Gesang). Ursprünglich bekannt als „The Lepers“, nahm die Gruppe den Namen Modern English an, nachdem Richard Brown (Schlagzeug) und Stephen Walker (Keyboard) hinzukamen.
