The Go-Betweens waren eine Indie-Rock-Band, die 1977 in Brisbane, Australien, von den Songwritern und Gitarristen Robert Forster und Grant McLennan gegründet wurde. Im Laufe der Jahre arbeiteten sie mit Musikern wie Lindy Morrison (Schlagzeug), Robert Vickers (Bass) und Amanda Brown (Violine, Oboe, Gitarre und Backing Vocals) zusammen. Nach einer ersten Phase der Aktivität, die Ende 1989 endete, reformierten Forster und McLennan die Band 2000 mit einer neuen Besetzung. Der Tod von McLennan an einem Herzinfarkt im Jahr 2006 führte zur endgültigen Auflösung der Go-Betweens. Ihr Sound zeichnet sich durch eingängige Melodien, nachdenkliche Texte und Einflüsse aus dem Post-Punk und der australischen Folkmusik aus.
