Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians sono un gruppo folk rock statunitense formatosi a Dallas, Texas, a metà degli anni ottanta. La formazione originale comprendeva Edie Brickell (voce, chitarra), Kenny Withrow (chitarra), John Bush (basso) e Matt Johnson (batteria). Il loro sound, caratterizzato da una combinazione di melodie folk orecchiabili e un'energia rock accessibile, li ha portati a essere spesso paragonati ai R.E.M., altra band college rock dell'epoca proveniente dal sud degli Stati Uniti. Il successo internazionale arrivò nel 1988 con il singolo "What I Am", tratto dall'album di debutto "Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars". L'album raggiunse la posizione numero 3 nella classifica Billboard 200 e contribuì a consolidare la popolarità del gruppo. Nel 1990 uscì il secondo album, "Ghost of a Dog", che ottenne un discreto successo commerciale. Dopo questo disco, Edie Brickell lasciò il gruppo per sposare il cantautore Paul Simon. Nel 2006, la band si riunì parzialmente con l'uscita dell'album "Stranger Things". Nel corso della sua carriera, Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians hanno pubblicato altri album, tra cui "Volcano" (1994) e "Better Times" (2017).
