Cole Porter (1891-1964) è stato uno dei più grandi compositori di musical americani e uno dei contributi più prolifici al Great American Songbook. Nato a Peru, nell'Indiana, Porter ha studiato musica all'Università Yale prima di dedicarsi alla composizione musicale.
