Pat Metheny, nato Patrick Bruce Metheny il 12 agosto 1954 a Kansas City, Missouri, è uno dei chitarristi jazz più influenti e innovativi di tutti i tempi. Inizia a suonare la chitarra all'età di sette anni e si diploma in musica al University of Miami. Nel corso degli anni '70 forma il suo gruppo, collaborando con artisti come Gary Burton e Lyle Mays. Il suo stile è caratterizzato da un approccio melodico e armonico originale, influenzato dal jazz fusion, dalla musica classica e dalle sonorità world music. Metheny ha vinto 20 Grammy Awards, tra cui quello per il miglior album di jazz nel 1983 con "Bright Size Life". Tra i suoi brani più rappresentativi ricordiamo "Minuano (Live)”, “James”, “First Circle” e “The Way Up”. Il suo lavoro ha influenzato generazioni di musicisti e continua a essere apprezzato per la sua originalità e bellezza.
