Rilo Kiley war eine Indie-Rock-Band, die 1998 in Los Angeles gegründet wurde. Das Kernstück der Band bildeten Jenny Lewis (Gesang, Gitarre), Blake Sennett (Gitarre, Gesang) und Pierre de Reeder (Bass). Nach dem Release einiger unabhängiger EPs unterschrieben sie 2001 bei Barsuk Records und veröffentlichten ihr Debütalbum "The Initial Joy of Living".
