Michael Franti ist ein US-amerikanischer Singer-Songwriter, Dichter und Musikproduzent, geboren am 21. April 1966. Seine Abstammung umfasst afrikanische, amerikanisch-indigene, irische, französische und deutsche Wurzeln. Franti ist bekannt für seine Musik, die Elemente von Hip-Hop, Reggae, Rock und Folk miteinander verbindet. In den 1980er Jahren begann er seine Karriere mit der Band The Beatnigs, gründete dann 1994 Spearhead. Mit Spearhead veröffentlichte er zahlreiche erfolgreiche Alben, darunter "Stay Human" (2006), "All People" (2009) und "The Sound of Sunshine" (2018).
