Planet Funk ist eine italienische Musikgruppe, die 1999 in Rom gegründet wurde. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus Marco Baroni (Keyboard), Alex Neri (Keyboard), Sergio Della Monica (Bass) und Domenico Canu (Gitarre). Ihr Sound, der hauptsächlich als Electro-Funk bezeichnet wird, vereinte Elemente der elektronischen Musik, Funk, Jazz und Hip-Hop. 2003 war das Jahr des internationalen Erfolgs mit dem Album "The Ident", das den Hit "Chase the Sun" enthielt, ein Song, der weltweit zum Sommerhit wurde. Planet Funk zeichnete sich durch energiegeladene Live-Auftritte und die innovative Verwendung elektronischer Instrumente aus und beeinflusste die italienische Musikszene der 2000er Jahre. Nach mehreren Alben und internationalen Tourneen gingen die Musiker 2010 getrennte Wege. Zu den bekanntesten Songs gehören: "Chase the Sun", "Inside Out", "The Ident" und "Living in a Dream".
