Songtext This is only a test Smoking Popes

This is only a test

Congratulations, you made the team
Looks like you're living the American dream
But the odds are not what they seem
And you can't trust the referee

The game is fixed and you're surprised
Lifetime supply of chocolate covered compromise
And the long, slow painful demise
Of your own autonomy

Now everybody thinks you're so great
And they all wanna be your ...
But don't be too impressed, this is only a test
This is only a test, this is only a test

It's easy now for you to win
With empty confidence and picture perfect skin
But when real life starts to begin
You will sing a different song

The gigs will rise and you will fall
Your mindless following will scatter one and all
And the rest of your life you will crawl
Through the dirt where you belong

Now everybody thinks you're so great
And they all wanna be your ...
But don't be too impressed, this is only a test
This is only a test, this is only a test

And you're passing down
But in the end you'll fade

Now everybody thinks you're so great
And they all wanna be your ...
But don't be too impressed, this is only a test
This is only a test, this is only a test
