Gotye, der Künstlername von Wouter André De Backer, auch bekannt als Wally, ist ein australischer Sänger-Songwriter und Multiinstrumentalist. Geboren in Brügge, Belgien, im Jahr 1980, zog Gotye im Alter von sieben Jahren nach Australien. Er begann seine musikalische Karriere in den 1990er Jahren mit der Indie-Rock-Band The Basics, erlangte aber internationale Bekanntheit 2011 mit dem Single "Somebody That I Used to Know", einer Zusammenarbeit mit Kimbra, die ein globaler Hit wurde und sich an die Spitze der Charts in vielen Ländern kämpfte.
