Suffocation è una band di death metal statunitense proveniente da Long Island, New York. Considerati uno dei pionieri del brutal death metal insieme a gruppi come Cannibal Corpse, hanno contribuito in modo significativo allo sviluppo del genere technical brutal death metal, influenzando anche lo slam brutal death metal e il deathcore con artisti come Dying Fetus e Cryptopsy.
