Die Butthole Surfers sind eine legendäre Underground-Band aus dem Bereich Punk/Hard Rock, die 1981 von Gibby Haynes (Gesang und Gitarre) und Paul Leary (Gitarre) gegründet wurde. Bekannt für ihre ironischen Texte voller schwarzem Humor, haben sie über 15 Alben veröffentlicht. Ihr bekanntestes Werk ist *Electriclarryland* (1996), das den Nummer-eins-Hit "Pepper" produzierte. Obwohl die Surfers viele offizielle und inoffizielle Mitglieder hatten, blieben sowohl Leary als auch Haynes feste Bestandteile der Band. Derzeit sind die Butthole Surfers offiziell auf Pause, aber laut Haynes' Website ist ein neues Album wahrscheinlich, obwohl es kein offizielles Erscheinungsdatum gibt.
