Serj Tankian è un cantautore, musicista e produttore discografico armeno-americano, noto soprattutto come voce e compositore principale del gruppo metal System of a Down. Nato in Armenia nel 1967 da genitori armeni emigrati negli Stati Uniti, Tankian ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale suonando il pianoforte e cantando in cori di chiesa. Nel 1994 ha fondato i System of a Down con Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian e John Dolmayan, diventando rapidamente uno dei gruppi musicali più influenti del genere metal alternativo.
