David Byrne (geboren am 14. Mai 1952) ist ein schottisch-amerikanischer Musiker und Künstler, der vor allem als Gründungsmitglied und Hauptkomponist der amerikanischen New-Wave-Band Talking Heads bekannt ist, die von 1975 bis 1991 aktiv war. Seit der Auflösung der Talking Heads hat Byrne eine erfolgreiche Solokarriere gestartet, indem er Alben veröffentlicht und mit Künstlern aus verschiedenen Musikgenres zusammengearbeitet hat. Neben der Musik hat sich Byrne auch anderen Kunstformen wie Film, Fotografie, Oper und Internetprojekten gewidmet. Er erhielt Grammy-, Oscar- und Golden Globe Awards für seine Leistungen. Als Mitglied der Talking Heads wurde Byrne 2002 in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
