Jefferson Airplane war eine amerikanische Rockband, die 1965 in San Francisco, Kalifornien, gegründet wurde. Als Pionier der Psychedelic-Rock-Bewegung war Jefferson Airplane die erste Band aus der San-Francisco-Szene, die kommerziellen und kritischen Mainstream-Erfolg erreichte. Mit einem Sound, der sich durch eingängige Melodien, poetische Texte und den Einfluss des amerikanischen Folks angetrieben wurde, trugen sie zur Definition Ästhetik und Klangbild dieser Zeit bei.
