Die Buzzcocks sind eine britische Punk-Rock-Band aus Manchester, die von 1976 bis 1983 aktiv war und sich dann sporadisch wiedervereinigte. Sie gelten als eine der einflussreichsten Bands der englischen Punk-Szene der 1970er Jahre und trugen mit ihrer schnellen, eingängigen und oft nachdenklichen Musik zur Definition des Sounds des Movements bei. Die Band wurde von Pete Shelley (Gesang, Gitarre) und Howard Devoto (Gesang) gegründet, die sich am Manchester Polytechnic kennenlernten. Nach einer Phase musikalischer Experimente übernahmen sie einen energiegeladenen und melodischen Punk-Rock-Stil, beeinflusst von Bands wie The Ramones und Television.
