Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading (nasciuta il 9 dicembre 1950) è una cantautrice e chitarrista britannica di origini giamaicana. Considerata una delle artiste più influenti del folk rock, ha venduto oltre 20 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo. La sua musica è caratterizzata da melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e un'interpretazione vocale potente. Armatrading ha iniziato la sua carriera negli anni '70 con l'album d'esordio "Whatever's Written" (1972), che ha riscosso un discreto successo.
