Nerf Herder ist eine Pop-Punk-Band aus Santa Barbara, Kalifornien, die 1994 von Parry Gripp (Gesang, Gitarre), Charlie Dennis (Bass) und Steve Sherlock (Schlagzeug) gegründet wurde. Sie bezeichnen sich selbst als „Nerd Rock“-Band und sind bekannt für ihre simplen, modernen Punk-Songs mit häufig humorvollen, kindlichen und popkulturellen Texten. Bekannt wurden sie vor allem durch die Komposition des Titelsongs der Fernsehserie Buffy – Die Vampire Slayer und ihren 1997 erschienenen Song „Van Halen“, einem parodistischen Tribut an die gleichnamige Band, der erhebliche Radio-Airplay erhielt und zu ihrem ersten großen Plattenvertrag mit Arista Records führte.
