Die Deftones sind eine amerikanische Rockband, die 1988 in Sacramento, Kalifornien, gegründet wurde. Die Band besteht aus Chino Moreno (Gesang), Stephen Carpenter (Gitarre), Abe Cunningham (Schlagzeug) und Chi Cheng (Bass, verstorben 2013). Sie erlangten internationale Bekanntheit durch ihren Sound, der eine Mischung aus Alternative Metal, Shoegaze und Post-Rock bietet. Nach Jahren von lokalen Auftritten und der Veröffentlichung ihrer ersten EP „The Deftones“ unterschrieben sie 1995 bei Maverick Records. Ihr Debütalbum „Adrenaline“ war ein sofortiger Erfolg und festigte ihren Platz in der Underground-Musikszene. Folgende Alben wie „Around the Fur“ (1997) und „White Pony“ (2000) erweiterten ihre Fangemeinde und etablierten sie als eine der einflussreichsten Bands des Alternative Metal Genres.
