Free ist eine britische Rockband, die von Ende der 1960er bis 1973 aktiv war. Bekannt für ihren kraftvollen Blues-Rock-Sound, beeinflusst vom Hard Rock, erreichten sie den Höhepunkt des Erfolgs mit dem Single "All Right Now", der aus dem Album *Fire and Water* (1970) stammt. Der Song wurde zum zeitlosen Klassiker des Genres und wird auch heute noch bei Konzerten gespielt und im Radio gesendet. Die Band bestand aus Paul Rodgers (Gesang), Andy Fraser (Bass), Simon Kirke (Schlagzeug) und Paul Kossoff (Gitarre). Kossoff, als einer der talentiertesten Gitarristen seiner Generation angesehen, starb 1976 tragischerweise an einer Überdosis. Neben "All Right Now" zählen auch "Wishing Well", "The Hunter" und "I'll Be Creepin'" zu den repräsentativen Titeln von Free. *Fire and Water* bleibt ihr berühmtestes Album, aber auch *Tons of Sobs* (1970) und *Highway* (1971) waren erfolgreich.
