Matteo Sugan, in arte Sugan, è un produttore e compositore della provincia di Como, classe 1992. Dopo classici studi in pianoforte e composizione presso il conservatorio G. Verdi di Como, studia Linguaggi dei media all’università Cattolica e produzione audio presso il SAE Institute di Milano. Pubblica da indipendente le prime canzoni in inglese, composte e autoprodotte a partire dal 2020 e successivamente, raccolte nell'album Year after. Comincia cosi il suo percorso e le sue collaborazioni con artisti emergenti del panorama musicale italiano. I temi trattati nelle canzoni dell’artista dimostrano un interesse sempre più incentrato sulla comprensione della società, intesa come organismo in continuo mutamento e per cui vale la pena di esporsi. Le canzoni in genere, descrivono l'essere umano nelle sue infinite sfaccettature, nessuna meno vera dell'altra e tutte compatibili tra loro. Si compone così un quadro eclettico che va dalle domande che accompagnano l’uomo dall’alba dei tempi, le questioni esistenziali e le numerose contraddizioni della società, fino alla peculiarità di un momento insolito che prima o poi tutti sperimentiamo, come uno spiacevole incontro, una offerta di lavoro deludente, il bisogno di piangere. Dai primi lavori in lingua inglese, passa successivamente a scrivere anche in italiano, soprattutto per trattare argomenti più spigliati e leggeri. Il sound è parte sperimentale del progetto: cangiante e quasi mai riconducibile a un genere preciso, in linea con la poliedricità di Sugan, tocca sonorità elettropop, urban, orchestrali e disco. A ciascuna, inoltre, corrisponde un argomento talvolta in contrasto, che spinge a fare attenzione alle sfumature del testo e cogliere il messaggio che veicola. Con la cantante Arvenige ha avviato un progetto di produzione e scrittura di canzoni che abbiano a che fare più da vicino con l'idea di una società attenta all'ambiente, alle esigenze di tutti e che non lascia indietro nessuno.
