Bob Dylan, geboren als Robert Allen Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota am 24. Mai 1941, ist ein US-amerikanischer Singer-Songwriter, Komponist, Schriftsteller, Dichter, Maler, Schauspieler und Radiomoderator. Als eine der einflussreichsten Persönlichkeiten der letzten fünfzig Jahre in Musik, Popkultur und Literatur gilt Dylan als prägendes Element der amerikanischen Musikkultur. Seine Karriere begann in den 1960er Jahren, als er sich zum zentralen Figure des amerikanischen Protestmovements entwickelte. Lieder wie *Blowin' in the Wind* und *The Times They Are A-Changin'* wurden Hymnen für pazifistische und zivilrechtliche Bewegungen. Die Texte seiner frühen Songs behandelten politische, soziale und philosophische Themen, beeinflusst von literarischen Autoren wie Walt Whitman und William Blake.
