Insieme agli amici Kim Hill (sostituita nel 2003 da Fergie), apl.de.ap e Taboo fonda nel 1996 il gruppo dal nome Black Eyed Peas con il quale raggiungerà il successo in tutto il mondo. Nel 2007, dopo quattro album di successo con i Black Eyed Peas, l'artista pubblica il suo terzo album solista intitolato Songs About Girls. Questo disco racchiude canzoni che raccontano la vita sentimentale del rapper degli ultimi sette anni.
