Leona Louise Lewis (Londra, 3 aprile 1985) è una cantante britannica. Sua madre è italo-irlandese.[1] Vincitrice della terza edizione del talent show britannico X Factor, ha ottenuto il successo planetario, raggiungendo le prima posizione nelle classifiche di 34 paesi con la sua hit mondiale Bleeding Love. Ha venduto oltre 10 milioni di album nel mondo in soli tre anni di attività. Il suo album di debutto Spirit ha venduto, ad oggi, oltre 6 milioni e mezzo di copie in totale[2], che ne fanno uno dei dischi d'esordio più notevoli di sempre. Leona Lewis nasce a Islington, un quartiere di Londra, da Aural Josiah "Joe" Lewis, originario della Guyana, e Maria Lewis, di origine italo-gallese[3][4]. Studia musica sin dall'infanzia prima presso la Sylvia Young Theatre School, poi presso l'Italia Conti Academy e infine presso la BRIT School, dove studiano anche altre future stelle della musica britannica come Amy Winehouse, Adele, Jessie J, Kate Nash e Katie Melua. Prende lezioni di chitarra e di piano. All'età di 12 anni scrive la sua prima canzone e partecipa a diverse competizioni canore. Dopo gli studi Leona svolge lavori di diverso genere, tra cui la cameriera e l'impiegata in un hotel, e nel frattempo incide alcuni demo da proporre alle case discografiche. Tra questi incide un demo album dal titolo Twilight, ma il successo tarda ad arrivare. La svolta arriva nel 2006, quando Leona si presenta alle selezioni per la terza edizione del talent show britannico X Factor dove canta Over the Rainbow e viene scelta dai giudici.
