Turisas ist eine finnische Folk-Metal-Band aus Hämeenlinna, die am 1. Mai 1997 von Mathias Nygård und Jussi Wickström gegründet wurde. Der Bandname leitet sich von Iku-Turso ab, einem alten Monster der finnischen Mythologie. Ursprünglich unter dem Namen Köyliö bekannt, nach einer finnischen Stadt, veröffentlichten sie 1997 das Demo *Taiston Tie*, das heute nicht mehr erhältlich ist. Nach der Veröffentlichung des Demos änderte die Band ihren Namen offiziell in Turisas. Ihre Musik verbindet Elemente des Heavy Metals mit traditionellen finnischen Melodien und Instrumenten, wodurch ein epischer und fesselnder Sound entsteht. Zu den bekanntesten Songs gehören *Stand Up and Fight*, *The Battle of the Bay*, *To Live Is to Fight* und *End of an Era*.
